Session Highlights

Session 1A: Vocab that ISN’T Vocabulary (William Van Cleave)
  • General vocabulary in an engaging way.
Session 2B: Multisensory Math: Strategies for Supporting Students Who Struggle with Multiplication and Division
  • Research has demonstrated that students with language based learning deficits may struggle while learning multiplication not because they are weak in math, but because learning multiplication makes demands on language retrieval. There are specific strategies based on what we know about the brain and math that can help the student impacted by dyslexia and related learning challenges. This workshop will focus on strategies which may help students master core facts and develop fluency.
Session 3B: No Fear Fractions for the Student Who Learns Differently
  • Fraction concepts and operations constitute a major hurdle for students with learning challenges. Many students learn fraction concepts and operations procedurally and fail to understand how to apply them correctly. This workshop will focus on offering instruction that is hands-on and proven to help all students comprehend and master fractions. Bring your colored pencils and a pair of scissors.
